“So Extra”

Price at Purchase: $8.99
Location: Safeway
It’s time for some bubbly! This bottle has SUCH a cute label—it’s like the epitome of Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby. Very art-deco meets a basic bitch. And I love both those things, so I’m sold.
It’s strange to say, and I kid you not, this bottle tastes like a celebration. One sip and you’ll be wishing it was your birthday, anniversary, holy day of obligation….just SOMETHING to congratulate yourself for. What specifically were we toasting on this fine afternoon? The fact that we both got through a Monday AND looked presentable on our Zoom calls. If that doesn’t call for a glass of bubbly, then we’re fucked.
The good news is that this prosecco isn’t sugary at all, and is surprisingly light. One of the main reasons I get nervous about drinking prosecco is that it can be sweet and super high in acidity, which is just not my style. In fact this particular varietal is “extra dry”, which I think helped balance the flavor to make it much more enjoyable. There isn’t really a strong scent to it, though, so let the bottle design do all the talking, while you do all of the drinking.
I would go on and on about all of the great food pairings we had with this, but we literally downed the bottle, with no snacks to be seen. Remember, it was a Monday and WE.EARNED.THIS.
The one thing I will note is that while I agree that this is dry, I wouldn’t emphasize the "extra"-ness of it. It may look like a champs bottle straight from the Roaring 20’s, but it’s definitely more of whisper of dryness rather than a roar. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious and I’d totally order it again. But not everything has to be extra, Karen.
